4 & they worshipped the monolith which gave power unto the starchild: & they worshipped the starchild, saying, “Who is like unto the starchild? Who is able to make war with him?”
5 & there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things & sciences; & power was given unto him to continue forty & two months. 6 & he opened his mouth in marvel against aliens, to puzzle at their name, & their tabernacle, & them that dwell in heaven. 7 & it was given unto him to make war with the charlatans, & to overcome them: & power was given him over all kindreds, & tongues, & nations. 8 & all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the ape slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear. 10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the bone must be killed with the bone. Here is the patience & the faith of the scientists.
11 & I beheld another starchild coming up out of the earth; & he had red eye as a computer, & he spake as a monolith. 12 & he exerciseth all the power of the first starchild before him, & causeth the earth & them which dwell therein to worship the first starchild, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 & he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14 & uplifted them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the monolith; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the monolith, which had the wound by the vacuum.
15 & he had power to give life unto the image of the monolith, that the image of the monolith should both speak, & cause that as many as would not worship the image of the monolith should be taught. 16 & he causeth all, both small & great, rich & poor, free & bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 & that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the monolith, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the monolith: for it is the number of man; & his number is one to four to nine.
