poisons: from hemlock to botox to the killer bean of calabar by peter macinnis.

as i was cautioned by david, this turned out to be little more than a magazine article that just went on & on. for all that, it was alright, & readable in the way that pop science can be. fluffy! i did find plenty to pick through & take notes on, though, from the symptoms of eating various metals (blue lines on the gums, or grey-blue sclera, that kind of thing) to some ideas of what might be found in an apothecary's pannier. plus, i really like the dreamy hue of the front cover. i probably could have profited more from a more scholarly work (of which none spring to mind) but over-all, i'm not disappointed, as i profited from it at least worth the investment i put into it.
